Well after a year of pandemic restrictions, the easing of which allowed us to run the competition, we had a strong field clearly with a desire to play competitive golf again.
Saturday brought perfect conditions & subpar rounds from the starters which included no less than 10 GGC members, possibly a record entry.
Fortunately the damp predictions didn’t materialise at Killermont on Sunday. The final rounds were completed in a soft breeze, with interesting pin positions on challenging greens & 6 of the original GGC line up made the cut - well done.
The eventual winner for the second time was a well known face & supporter of our Open Competitions, Matt Clark of Kilmacolm with a total of 276. This was on the back of a new course record in the Amateur Championship at Nairn & Blairgowrie Scratch Open win the previous weekend.
